WEEK 11

"WEEK 11" This number gets us all excited! We're approaching 12! Come along and let me fill you in on what's happened...

We went with Thai colleague Aom for a challenge!

Here's the challange: BT chicken (B= 变 Biàn T= 态 Tài)! It was an uber spicy chicken wing we couldn't believe it! We thought it would be the usual spice that our tongues can accept but it was obviously not the case! The spice first goes down to your throat, then your nose gets blocked, and finally your lips swell!!! Fun experience though!

Besides BT chicken, there is a whole list of flavours that aren't spicy but yummy!

We also dropped by a Korean restaurant on the same day for some authentic korean noodles. Tasted really good!!

On one of the week days after work, our colleague Zee, from another department in our company, brought us for some real good street food. (dumplings and noodles). Look that's Zee with Shirlyn and Shi Jing!

Oh and guess what? Mrs Kang (my 妈妈) decided to make a trip to Stunning Shanghai to meet her daughter. (She must've missed me) mwahahahahhaa

田子坊
A meal together

Here's a last picture! Colleagues in KTV session on a Friday night! Lovely people. They're too fun to be with!

Time's up! This shall sum up our WEEK 11. I'm really looking for ward to 12, and I believe you guys are, too! SEE YOU ALL SOON!!!!! Goodbye!

Signing off, Jackie.

WEEK 10

ALOHA "WEEK 10" ! It's time for Jackie to do the blog posts --> the time that all of us anticipated from the day we stepped into the forever beautiful Shanghai City because it's the last phase of our internship!!!!.

It was a day before the long awaited Vesak Day. It was time to go out to the bustling city to catch a glimpse of the gorgeous view with a table reserved at Mr and Mrs Bund Restaurant.

Cheers (just sometimes not always hehe)

On Vesak Day itself, we were invited to Thai Colleague, Aom's place for dinner! Heavenly Thai Cuisine.

She's too nice. Getting up early in the morning just to prepare these dishes for us.

so happy right!!

Interns watching The Internship while slurping food (punintended)

Moving on, the group of interns visited Public for a chill out night.

We checked out Public upon hearing superb ratings. It was indeed a good experience!
Look at our pleased faces and say CHEEEESE with our colleague, CY!

This week has been a really exciting one. We should do this for the next two weeks. It time for us to enjoy the last few moments of our Shanghai Times to the fullest!

Oooops you've arrived at the end of the post. Happy times do end quickly. More to come in my next post! Look forward to it! Goodbye for now!!!! Signing Off, Jackie.

WEEK 9 IN SHANGHAI

In the blink of an eye, it's the ninth week in Shanghai... 3 more weeks and I'll be back in Singapore!! However, the thought of not being able to see these colleagues probably for the rest of my life kind of sucks. Without them, working in FedEx will probably be so different. They are so friendly and helpful and I am forever thankful for their existence in FedEx.
Lunch at starbucks

We were not feeling so well during the weekdays so we had porridge for dinner for 2 consecutive days.
Introducing .... Teow chew porridge!

We had fried noodle/rice for dinner on Thursday. Actually, it's considered as street food and well the hygiene level is so-so. But for the price & experience (what’s street food in sg?), it was quite worth it.

I went to watch amazing spider man 2 in 3D with my colleagues ( CY, Michael & zee ). Since CY bought some vouchers, we get to watch the movie for 40 ( 8 sgd ) rmb w free drink per person! So worth it hahahah. Before we went to watch the movie, CY & I went to have din tai fung for lunch & godiva ice cream for dessert *yumms*
After the movie, we had BBQ for dinner and it's a buffet! For the quality of the food, It's rly affordable since it's only 60 rmb per person.

Sunday – Dinner at CY’s house! Thank you Zee and CY for the super super yummy Philippines & Cantonese cuisines :D

Signing off with a post of ice cream :) Shirlyn

WEEK 8

It's finally week 8! Labour day falls on week 8 - No work for us!! We wanted to go out on that day... However, it's a public holiday in China too. We were warned by our colleagues that it's better for us to stay in the hotel because everywhere will be very crowded. We went to yan chang lu ( a mini town near our hotel ) for dinner & dessert.

The day before labour day, we went to a restaurant(Molokai) in french concession for cantonese cuisine! I found this restaurant on a website ( time out ) and the ratings for this restaurant were not bad! It was quite affordable for the quality of their dishes.
Afterwards, we went to captain bar to chill. Since it was a public holiday the next day, we didn't manage to get a seat on the rooftop. We found a seat inside the bar and we were not very pleased with it because it was very stuffy and we didn't manage to have a good view of the bund. Thankfully, the waitress was nice and she alerted us when there is an empty seat on the rooftop. Once we were on the rooftop, we get to have an amazing view of the lengendary The Bund. We ordered some drinks and chit chatted about our life, work and school...

On Friday, we went to eat 鸡公煲  with our colleagues. Basically, we were supposed to eat the chicken meat in a clay pot first. After that, the boss will add some soup into the clay pot and we can add other food we want into the clay pot. So basically, we are eating hotpot as well!

Sat - We woke up quite late on Saturday as we wanted to rest more. Afterwards, we went to cha can teng for xia wu cha. We walked around the area and we went to The Bund to enjoy the view again.

Sun -
We went to Jian Guo 328 on Sunday. "The homey Shanghai dishes are cooked with filtered water, quality oil and never any MSG. A few details distinguish this miniature dining room with a little lofted second floor from the average casual eatery, such as the framed glass window front and comfortable lighting instead of fluorescent tubes.
" This was written on the time out website. True enough, the food were incredible as well as the furnishing of the shop. Afterwards, we went to 田子方 for chocolate cake. Oh, who can resist chocolate cake for dessert?

WEEK 7 IN SHANGHAI

It’s finally the seventh week in Shanghai! How time flies~ I remember I used to hope for time to pass faster during the first week in Shanghai because I couldn’t get used to the weather, food, working life and everything. However, the next thing we know, it’s the seventh week! Working was quite tough in the beginning because I wasn’t able to express myself for all the IT technical terms in mandarin fluently. There was a lot of information about the systems Fedex is offering to its customers. Hence, I wasn’t able to absorb this information in a short time. However, as long as we preserve, everything will get better :)

We originally planned to go a park on Saturday! We heard from our colleague that the park is famous for it’s scenery and we can go there for relaxation after a hectic week of work. However, to our dismay, it was raining on Saturday. Hence, we had to stay in the hotel. We went to meet our colleagues around 4pm at supermarket for grocery shopping! We went over to her place and prepare our dinner. It has been awhile since we had home cooked meal after coming to Shanghai. In addition, the dishes were really yummy so I had 1 bowl of rice and 1 and a half bowl of noodle :D

It was raining on Sunday too :( We had Pizza Hut for dinner again because the standard of the pizza was really good as compared to Singapore. While we were waiting for the train to go home, we happened to see fireworks!! It seems like it's actually a common thing in China for someone to put fireworks... We were so excited when we see the fireworks, however, the locals over here treated it like it's nothing much.

Since a picture is worth a thousand words... Here are some of the pictures taken over the week!

                           WEEK 6 IN SHANGHAI

We are half done with internship now! We start work when the sky is still bright but when we end work it is already dark.  Time flies, in a blink of an eye 6 weeks has past and soon we will be back in Singapore.

RARE BRIGHT SKY WE SEE AFTER WORK

There are lots of good food here. We tried the Pizza Hut here although Singapore has it as well but the taste here is exceptionally nice! Very fresh crust and the sauce on the pizza is done perfectly. We save up for the weekend to try real yummy food!
